Not
Services.

Frameworks differ from services because services conclude. Frameworks generate additional services. We classify certain offerings under this category accordingly.

Not Services are strategic frameworks, diagnostic models, and conceptual architectures that sit adjacent to our service portfolio without being part of it.

This distinction is important. A service has a start date, an end date, and an invoice. A Not Service has none of these things. It has a conceptual scope, a methodology, and a strong potential to generate a service engagement once the framework has been applied and its findings have been interpreted by someone familiar with our service portfolio.

We do not charge for Not Services. We charge for what happens after them.

This is sometimes described as the most important sentence on our website. We agree. We put it here deliberately, and we are prepared to discuss it further in a discovery session.

Why We Have a Not Services Category

The Not Services category was established following a period of internal reflection on whether every output we produce needs to be a service. The conclusion was: no. Some outputs should be frameworks. Frameworks are better. Frameworks do not end.

More specifically: a service must eventually be delivered, measured, and concluded. Delivery introduces accountability. Measurement introduces evidence. Conclusion introduces the risk that the client has obtained what they paid for and has no further immediate need.

A Not Service avoids all three risks. It is made available. It is applied. Its findings are documented. And those findings, when taken seriously, consistently reveal the need for one or more services from our core portfolio.

We consider this an elegant architecture.

The most valuable thing we have ever given a client for free is a framework that explained exactly why they needed to pay us.

Ready to Apply a Framework?

Most Not Service engagements begin with a discovery session where we apply the relevant framework to your organisation's current strategic posture. The session concludes with findings. The findings are presented in a deck. The deck recommends next steps. The next steps are services.

* Framework application is complimentary. Findings interpretation is a separate engagement.
